Paul Pogba has a lot to live up to at Manchester United

France international midfielder Paul Pogba looks set to make a £100million move to Manchester United

and various other media outlets are claiming that Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United is near to completion.

The move from Italian giants Juventus will reportedly cost a world-record fee of £100million, which is just eye-watering.

Various people related to Manchester United, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney have had their say about the midfielders prospective return to Old Trafford.

He has developed into a very good player

Paul Pogba was always regarded as a star. Even in his teenage years he shone bright in United’s youth ranks and was expected to have a big future. However, he was impatient and then-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was not prepared to give the midfielder the first team football he craved.

In 2012 he left on a free transfer, with United receiving just a nominal fee in compensation. The decision was one everybody connected with the Red Devils was left to regret.

Since his move the midfielder has gone from strength to strength, winning four Serie A titles and establishing himself as one of the best central midfielders in the world. His development has been steady and has seen the 23-year-old linked with big money to all the major European clubs.

European champions Real Madrid were mooted as a possible destination and the midfielder was believed to be keen on the move, but it seems he now is heading back to Old Trafford.

Difficult for Pogba to live up to his price tag

Paul Pogba is a good player and will probably only get better with more experience. At 23-years-old he has a lot of time left in his career to prove his worth at United. However, can any player really live up to a massive price tag like £100million?

Transfer fees have risen at a crazy rate, especially with the amount of money now flowing through Premier League clubs. The fact that we are about to see our first ever £100million player just illustrates how crazy the market really is.

Pogba comes across as a very confident guy and will no doubt just do what he does normally. Some players are burdened with big price tags and fail to handle it. The French international does not seem to the sort of guy to be fazed by the price of his move.

It will be interesting to see how he develops and performs for the Red Devils. He will certainly be regarded as a marquee signing this summer.

Manchester United aiming high this summer

By Manchester United’s standards, the team have been mediocre in the last seasons. Seventh, fourth and fifth place finishes in the Premier League table have been disappointing for the Red Devils.

This summer United have moved to end the mediocrity by first hiring high-profile boss Jose Mourinho and then signing Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The pair are winners and have been at the top of their respective professions for a decade.

Mourinho may have been sacked at Chelsea last season, but he is still one of the greatest bosses of the modern era. He is the sort of world-class boss that United needed to take the club to the next level after Louis van Gaal’s lukewarm spell in Manchester.

Ibrahimovic arrives in Manchester at 34-years-old on massive wages, but also on the back of his best ever goalscoring campaign. Many will doubt whether he can still perform at the top level still. I am sure that the mercurial striker will answer those critics in his own inimitable way.

The fact that United are prepared to spend a world-record fee on Pogba suggests that the Red Devils are preparing for a return to the big time next season. The fee may be a massive one, but it is a signal of intent that they mean business in the coming campaign.

It seems the much-anticipated transfer of Paul Pogba is finally set to be complete before the kick-off of the new Premier League campaign.

The French midfielder may never be able to justify the massive fee, but he may help restore the glory days at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils to win the Premier League title.

Helping return Manchester United to the elite may prove to be even more valuable than the mooted fee for the midfielder and prove to be a good move for United.

Can Paul Pogba live up to his proposed price tag at United?
