Market: Sweden win
Odds: 7/5 @
With a spot in the quarter-finals of this year s European Championships up for grabs on Tuesday night, Sweden will face off against Ukraine at Hampden this week.
Starting with The Swedes, managing to open up this summer s delayed European Championships with an eye-catching 0-0 stalemate against former world champions Spain, the mood in Sweden s camp should be at a real high. Building off of that 1-0 victory against Slovakia on June 18th, The Yellows wrapped up their Group E campaign in some style. Signing off their run with an action-packed 3-2 victory against Poland in Saint Petersburg last week, Head Coach Janne Andersson also saw his side book their knockout spot as Group E winners. Impressing many across the continent and receiving a string of praise in doing so, Sweden find themselves enjoying what has been a stellar purple patch since opening 2021. Including an impressive run in March s World Cup qualifiers, The Yellows are unbeaten in each of their last eight matchups across all formats, collecting seven wins.
As for Ukraine, although Andriy Shevchenko s side might have managed to scrape their way to the knockout stage, they are a nation that have really failed to find top gear with much stability. Despite trying to mount what would have been a stellar comeback against Holland earlier in the month in their opening contest this summer, the former AC Milan icon saw his side lose two of their three Group C contests. Signing off their run with a sluggish 1-0 loss against Austria in Budapest on June 21st, Ukraine have shown a host of issues over the past nine months. With that famous win against Spain back in October looking to have been just a minor bounce, Shevchenko s squad have won just a trio of their last 12 matchups across all formats. Facing what could be a tough trip to Hampden on Tuesday night, we re backing a Sweden win here.
