Pep Guardiola does not believe his tenure at Bayern Munich will be defined by success or failure in the Champions League.
Guardiola will leave Bayern for Manchester City at the end of this season, with the club on course to secure a third Bundesliga title in three seasons under the former Barcelona coach.
But they have fallen short at the semi-final stage of the Champions League in consecutive campaigns, with Real Madrid and then Barca denying Guardiola the chance to lift the famous trophy he hoisted twice during his tenure at Camp Nou.
Given Jupp Heynckes won the Champions League with Bayern in 2013 before handing over the reins to Guardiola, the Catalan s record in Europe with the Bavarian giants could be seen as a relative failure – a viewpoint the 45-year-o…
Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has committed his future to Leicester City after signing a new four-year contract.
Schmeichel s previous deal at the newly promoted Premier League side was due to expire at the end of the month, but he has now penned fresh terms.
The Denmark international was an ever-present last season as Leicester booked their return to the top flight, with the 27-year-old only conceding 43 Championship goals.
I m tremendously proud to sign for this great club again, he told Leicester s official website.
I was always confident that my future would be sorted once we achieved our objective of winning promotion to the Premier League and I d like to thank the owners and the manager for making it happen.

Welcome back, Jose – Klopp thrilled with Mourinho´s return and says ´everything will be fine´ for Po
Jurgen Klopp is delighted with Jose Mourinho s return to the Premier League, but is sure former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will be in line for a top job.
Pochettino who guided Spurs to four successive top-four finishes in the league and last season s Champions League final which Tottenham lost to Klopp s Liverpool was relieved of his position on Tuesday following a poor start to the campaign.
Spurs moved quickly to appoint ex-Chelsea and Manchester United manager Mourinho as Pochettino s replacement on Wednesday.
Liverpool s 3-1 defeat of United in December 2018 spelled the end of Mourinho s tenure at Old Trafford, and Klopp is thrilled to have his old rival back in the Premier League, though he has no doubt Pochettino will land another big job soon en…
Eddie Howe has assured Jermaine Defoe that he has a future at Bournemouth, according to the Mirror.
The England international, who turned thirty-six earlier this month has barely featured for the Cherries in the league this season racking up just thirteen minutes across three substitute appearances.
His only starts have come in the EFL Cup, while he hasn’t scored since netting a late equaliser at Watford back in March.
In total, Defoe racked up twenty-six appearances in all competitions last season, scoring four goals having signed for the south coast outfit in the summer of 2017.
He is currently seventh on the list of all-time Premier League goalscorers, just one behind Robbie Fowler.
The former Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Portsmo…
Sleep-deprived Manchester City winger Jack Grealish admits he has had “the best day and night” as the club celebrated their treble-winning season following the capture of the Champions League title.
Even a typical Manchester downpour and passing lightning storm could not dampen spirits as Pep Guardiola and his squad paraded their newly-acquired European Cup alongside the Premier League trophy and FA Cup.
City returned from Istanbul on Sunday afternoon and it has been one long party – with celebrations set to continue for a while longer as Grealish was overheard to ask striker Erling Haaland: ‘Are we having it?’ while on their one-mile tour around the city centre.
TREBLE WINNERS!!!

Newcastle United midfielder Sylvain Marveaux has joined Ligue 1 side Guingamp on a season-long loan.
The 28-year-old former Rennes man moved to St James Park in 2011, but has made only 57 appearances for the club since then.
Marveaux made just four starts in all competitions last season, having become a bit-part player under Alan Pardew.
The winger has scored twice for the club with his loan deal taking him into what would could be his final season with the club.
Marveaux has two seasons remaining on his five-year deal and will make his return to the French top flight with Guingamp.
The former France Under-21 international will serve to bolster a squad that ensured survival on their return to Ligue 1 last season.

Nigel Pearson s side amassed a whopping 102 points and the ambitious Srivaddhanaprabha is determined to ensure they become a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.
The billionaire, who led the takeover of the club in August 2010 and was then named chairman since 2011, is ranked the 11th richest man in Thailand by Forbes and he is ready to invest heavily to ensure Leicester are playing in Europe again in the near future.

The news that Yannick Bolasie has cut short his season-long loan deal at Aston Villa was quite surprising. The 29-year-old winger has decided to end his temporary spell in the Midlands because he reportedly believes that he should be playing in the Premier League.
Many Villa fans will disagree, as will some Everton and Crystal Palace fans who have witnessed the winger play in recent years. I doubt many Villa fans will be too worried about the winger’s exit, as he only made nine appearances for the Villans in his temporary stay in the Midlands.
Mercurial the best word for Bolasie
Yannick Bolasie is not a terrible footballer. He has pace and trickery. His quick feet often get the better of opposition defenders. The problem is that they sometimes get the better of Bolas…
Cristiano Ronaldo would have been a bigger Galactico if he played in the same team as Zinedine Zidane, according to the Real Madrid coach himself.
Zidane will look to Ronaldo for inspiration as Madrid aim to become the first modern-era team to retain the Champions League when they take on Juventus in Cardiff on Saturday.
