Sat in the driving seat to punch their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s Copa do Brasil, Atletico GO will welcome Brusque to Goias on Wednesday night.
Starting with the hosts, snatching a gritty 1-0 victory when they travelled to Brusque for their first-leg showdown on May 1st, Atletico GO are sat in the driving seat to punch their quarter-final ticket. However, although the Dragons might have secured a lucrative Serie A return this season, they have continued to struggle with their constancy. Crashing back down to earth last week as they suffered a toothless 1-0 loss at home against Cruzeiro, Jair Ventura’s men are already battling it out in the drop zone and pencilled in as a standout relegation contender …
Brentford boss Thomas Frank is unsure on the precedent for coronavirus cases within a squad leading to the cancellation of a Premier League game.
The Bees, who defeated Watford 2-1 on Friday thanks to last-gasp Bryan Mbeumo penalty, are set to host Manchester United on Tuesday.
However, Stats Perform understands United saw a small number of positive tests returned among players and staff after they returned from Saturday s 1-0 win at Norwich City.
The entire group that travelled to Carrow Road for Saturday s match had returned negative results in a round of routine testing.
Individuals who returned positive lateral flow test results on Sunday were sent home before training, which was then adjusted to consist of outdoor individual and non-contact sessions.…
Southend manager Phil Brown suffered defeat against his old club as Hull City booked a place in the FA Cup fifth round with a 2-0 win.
Brown guided Hull to the Premier League in 2008 and victory over his former side would have seen Southend match their joint best FA Cup run, but the top-flight side s superiority showed at Roots Hall.
Goalscoring chances were relatively rare in the first half as Barry Corr and Yannick Sagbo both spurned their respective teams best openings, before Michael Timlin struck the crossbar early in the second period for the League Two outfit.
The breakthrough finally came via Matty Fryatt with just over an hour gone as he produced a well-worked finish after a clever run to give Hull the lead.
Fryatt then added a second in stoppage t…
Chelsea’s policy of targeting young players in the transfer market must be given time to prove its effectiveness, according to boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart have led a recruitment drive that has prioritised youth over experience during the last two transfer windows.
At an average age of just over 23 the club have the youngest squad in the Premier League this season, with contracts of seven or eight years for new players common at Stamford Bridge.
We have the building blocks in terms of the staff, the skills, and the players, that we think can take us forward. It’s very exciting.

Standard Liege owner Roland Duchatelet has moved to play down reports linking star man Michy Batshuayi with a summer move to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, while confirming that S.L. Benfica are keen on the 20-year-old.
The Belgium Under-21 international, who joined Standard Liege from Brussels in 2008, has been on sensational goal-scoring form for the Jupiler Pro League giants this season, having netted 18 goals in 29 league appearances for the table toppers.
Batshuayi has been linked with a number of top European clubs in recent weeks, most notably North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, but Les Rouches are not in a must-sell position, with the player under contract at the club until the summer of 2018.
That being said, an offer in the…
Eddie Howe has insisted the weather which delayed Newcastle’s arrival in Italy will not derail their Champions League adventure.
The club’s latest European mission hardly got off to the most auspicious of starts when, having been given special dispensation to train on Tyneside on Monday morning rather than at the San Siro later in the day, they remained on the ground for more than two hours.
However, speaking at a press conference which finally got under way at around 9pm local time when it had initially been scheduled for 7pm, Howe was adamant preparations for a tough opening encounter with AC Milan would not be hampered as a result.
En route.

Former Germany captain Michael Ballack has called on Joachim Low to quit as national team coach following the FIFA World Cup.
Low has been head coach of Germany since the end of the 2006 World Cup, where he served as an assistant to Jurgen Klinsmann, and has led the team to consecutive World Cup finals in South Africa and Brazil.
Ballack said Low should leave the post after Brazil 2014, despite having a contract until 2016.
The contract with him was extended (in October 2013) so that no annoying questions arose during the World Cup, Ballack told The Express.
This was wise from the German Football Association but I think that Low should not continue at this juncture. The pressure and burden on him would be too great.
Under Low s leadership, Germany made the…
Market: Leyton Orient win
Odds: 11/10 @
Looking to extend on what has been a real March purple patch on Tuesday night, Leyton Orient will make the trip to relegation scrappers Oldham.
Starting with the hosts, last seen a few days ago suffering a second-half collapse on home soil, Oldham find themselves in the midst of a League Two nightmare. Eventually getting hit with a 2-1 defeat against Mansfield, John Sheridan’s side are sat three points adrift of safety and are in pole position to lose their Football League status this year. Losing each of their last six outings on the spin, it should also be highlighted that the Latics have remarkably failed to win any of their previous eight fixtures, a run that stems back to March 19th. Only continuing to show a host o…
Juventus are trying to sign Belgium international Axel Witsel, Zenit coach Mircea Lucescu has confirmed.
Witsel told R-Sport this month he plans to stay at Zenit for another season and would not rule out prolonging his stay in Russia with a new contract.
But Lucescu revealed Serie A champions Juve are attempting to seal a deal for the midfielder, who has turned down a move to Everton ahead of the transfer window closing on Wednesday.
We had a serious offer from Everton for Witsel, but the player rejected it, Lucescu told Dolce Sport.
Now he has two days to find an agreement with Juventus and they in turn with Zenit for a possible transfer.
Juve appear to have missed out on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi but have been linked wit…
Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny backed Olivier Giroud to win back his spot when given the chance by Arsene Wenger.
Giroud, 30, has struggled for game time this season, playing just 51 Premier League minutes without a start.
Koscielny, also a team-mate of Giroud s with France, said the striker would eventually get his opportunity.
That s a delicate situation for him. We came back late following the Euros. We joined the squad at another time. It took us more time to get fit, he said.
Olivier needed a little more time than others. Then there is a lot of competition up front at Arsenal.
Alexis Sanchez is currently playing exceptionally well so it s complicated to push him out the starting 11.
I know Olivier and he s experienced much wor…
