Guardiola thinks ´incredible´ Arteta will be next Man City manager

Pep Guardiola believes the incredible Mikel Arteta will succeed him as Manchester City manager.

Arteta joined Guardiola s backroom staff as an assistant coach in July 2016, just after finishing his playing career with Arsenal.

Under Guardiola, City have enjoyed plenty of success, winning two Premier League titles, two EFL Cup trophies, an FA Cup and two Community Shields.

Guardiola believes his fellow Spaniard, Arteta, could be the man to replace him at the Etihad Stadium.

I m pretty sure [he ll succeed me]. He will have success, he told UK media.

Sooner or later it s going to happen [Arteta becoming a manager]. He s a young, young manager. He has experience already, handling big players and big teams.

He s got an incredible work ethic.…

Griezmann: Messi said he was going to death with me and I feel it every day

Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann insisted his relationship with Lionel Messi was good, saying he felt the star was ready to go to death with him.

Griezmann has struggled to make his mark at Barcelona since arriving from Atletico Madrid for €120million last year.

The forward s relationship with Messi has been questioned, and Griezmann admitted his decision to reject Barca in 2018 had affected the six-time Ballon d Or winner.

However, Griezmann said there were no doubts over his relationship with Messi now.

I arrived at Barcelona after the rejection the year before, he told Movistar on Monday.

There could have been comments even in the dressing room, from journalists, from the fans and that is why when I arrived I wanted to apologise on the …

Benevento appoint Filippo Inzaghi as new head coach

Serie B side Benevento have confirmed the appointment of Filippo Inzaghi as their new head coach.

Inzaghi was sacked by Bologna in January after just seven months in charge.

The former AC Milan and Venezia boss has now returned to coaching with Benevento on a one-year deal with the option of second season.

Benevento were relegated to the second tier of Italian football at the end of 2017-18 and finished third in their first campaign back in Serie B, before losing 4-2 on aggregate to Cittadella in the play-offs.

Inzaghi replaces Cristian Bucchi, who joined Empoli earlier this week.

The report has claimed that Newcastle wanted to sign the young full-back in the summer of 2022 and remain keen on securing his services in the middle of the season.

Manchester United v Manchester City: Schweinsteiger and De Bruyne eager for Manchester derby bows

Two former Bundesliga stars are relishing the opportunity to make their mark on the Manchester derby when third-placed United host Premier League leaders City at Old Trafford.

Bastian Schweinsteiger ended a 17-year association with Bayern Munich to join United in July, while Kevin De Bruyne has continued the form that made him Bundesliga player of the year last term at Wolfsburg since becoming City s record signing.

Despite his lengthy spell with Bayern, Schweinsteiger rarely got a taste of cross-town hostilities due to the ailing fortunes of neighbours 1860 Munich, who share a ground with the Bundesliga champions, but have not competed in Germany s top flight since 2003-04.

I am definitely looking forward to the derby against City,  the Germany captain told Un…

Cannavaro endorses Real Madrid trio

Fabio Cannavaro has lavished praise on the talents of Real Madrid defenders Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos and Pepe.

The former Italy centre-back who played for the club between 2006 and 2009 explained how the natural ability of the teenage Frenchman, leadership qualities of the ex-Sevilla man and Portugal international s versatility have combined to great effect.

Varane s great because he plays with the type of composure that is not normal for a boy his age. He comes across as a veteran of the game and I like him because he makes things look simple, Cannavaro told Marca.

He is already one of the best centre-backs in the world. I know him well and I knew he could get to this level.

(Ramos) is a born leader. He is always hungry to win, compete and improve…

Real Madrid 2 Bayern Munich 2 (4-3 agg): Ulreich howler sends holders into final

Sven Ulreich s huge error ultimately proved decisive as Real Madrid progressed to the Champions League final thanks to a 2-2 draw in an enthralling semi-final second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid came from behind to win 2-1 last week in the first leg at the Allianz Arena, and sealed their progression with a 4-3 aggregate triumph despite an unconvincing performance on Tuesday.

Bayern took the lead in the third minute, Joshua Kimmich opening the scoring following a mistake by Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

The hosts were quick to reply but it was Karim Benzema and not Cristiano Ronaldo, making an outfield record 152nd appearance in the competition, who took centre stage.

Benzema s close-range header ensured Madrid s deficit lasted only eight minutes, a…

I´m not selfish enough to win the Ballon d´Or, says Hazard

Chelsea star Eden Hazard does not believe he is selfish enough to win the Ballon d Or.

The Belgium international has made the Ballon d Or shortlist in three of the past four years but, despite winning the PFA Players Player of the Year in 2014-15, he has never finished higher than eighth in the voting.

And Hazard, who scored 12 goals and laid on four assists in the Premier League this season, believes his personality and style of play would not allow him to take world football s top prize or even a Golden Boot.

He always told me that, Hazard told BBC Sport of his father s belief that he is too selfless. Maybe it s true.

I think, in football now, if you want to win something like the Ballon d Or or [to be the] top-scorer, you need to be selfish. But I m …
